ToolsTroubleshooting Checklist

A checklist you can keep

Something is already going wrong? Start here. For an upcoming rollout or management decision, use the planning brief.

Prepare your troubleshooting checklist.

Choose a topic and how current your evidence is. Get a different first step for missing, older or current observations, followed by the relevant checks and a working note you can keep.

Your description chooses the next question. It does not establish a cause.

Use generic selections only. Keep names, tenant/device identifiers, credentials and logs out of a public inquiry.

Adapted to your evidence selection

Establish the observation.

Then use the topic-specific checks

Add your actual observations privately after copying or downloading. The suggestions below are not observations from your devices.

    WORKING ISSUE BRIEF
    Expected behavior: [What should happen?]
Observed behavior: [What did you observe?]
Observed at: Unknown [record time and time zone]
    Affected scope: Unknown
    Last known working state: Unknown
Recent change: Unknown; not proof of a cause.
Evidence still needed: [Name a bounded next check.]

No cause, fix, access or change is authorized by this note.
Keep customer names, IDs, credentials and logs out.

A blank outline is available even without JavaScript.

Download buttons appear when supported. You can always select the note above. Files you keep can outlive Reset and may be stored or synced by your browser or device.

Copy and downloads work locally. Opening an email draft hands the previewed text to your email app; you choose whether to send it. No support ticket is created.

Interactive tools need JavaScript. You can still select the blank outline above, read every tip and use the official links.

Why an assigned app might still be missing

Illustrative example based on Microsoft guidance, not a client case.

An app is assigned in Intune, but a user cannot find it. Start with three questions:

    1. Is the device eligible for the app?
    2. Did installation run?
    3. Does the detection rule recognize the installed app?

Check the relevant evidence before choosing a fix. Assignment alone does not prove installation.
